Tournament Highlights
With Hillcrest being bought out and under a total course renovation, the Cuervo Classic had a change of venue for the first time in history and was held at Sykes/Lady Overland Park Golf Course.
The O.P. team notified us 2 weeks before the tournament that they were punching the greens on Wednesday, which was a bummer as bumpy greens made for slow and difficult putting conditions. Otherwise, the new venue was very well received by all participants, as was the mid-day start time instead of our normal go time at sun up.
After a several-week drought in KC and no chance of rain in the forecast, the teams awoke to "misty droplets" the morning of the tournament. By afternoon, however, the sun was out and the participants enjoyed a beautiful day on the course.
Jeff Rowe’s team was impressed that such a "dainty bitch" could snare the lead in the long-drive contest. Sadly, Kopmeyer airmailed him to take the contest hole but Rowdy could take some comfort with his closest to pin win.
Cobb, Juice, and Marshall had the lead in the clubhouse at -9, then Brad, Don, and Parker birdied the 18th hole to tie for the lead and force a playoff. Unfortunately, Marshall had to abandon his team to catch a “PJ” on his way out of town for a concert leaving only Cobb and Juice to battle against the other trio with both teams making par on 18. Then the marshall led the two groups vying for the championship back to the #3 tee where they were met by another group who was just getting into the groove of their weekend round. The marshall informed them that they would have to wait, however, as the Cuervo Classic title remained in the balance. The teams cut in front and teed off in ahead of these randoms in what was one of the most awkward moments anyone had experienced on a golf course and eventually both teams parred that hole as well. The tournament subsequently proceeded to a putt-off on the practice green beneath the bar and balcony and after 3 rounds, Wyatt sank a 10 footer to clinch The Cup.
The reserved tables at Tanner’s afterwards were a nice touch and great way to finish off an amazing day - nice work, Bagby.
It was decided that Parker Hills will be retained as the Chief Playoff Format Officer going forward.
Special thanks to first-time players Duncan Brown, Charlie Sirridge, and Chase Woofter. Hope you had a blast and will be able to join us again in the years to come!
Another big thank you to our t-shirt extraordinaire, Nick Reddell, for printing this year's pink poly-blend t-shirts. Maybe we can get him to actually play golf next year!

Each member of the team will hit a tee shot (in any order).
The team will decide which shot they would prefer to play and then go retrieve the other balls.
Each member then plays a shot from the spot of the preferred ball.
Continue this cycle until the ball is holed out.
THERE ARE NO MULLIGANS OR GIMMES - no do-overs, and all putts must be holed out.
Lift, clean, and place or "preferred" lies are in effect: players may place ball within a club length of where balls rests.
The maximum score on a given hole is double bogey.
Balls lost or hit out of bounds (white stakes) should be played like a lateral hazard: two club lengths from the spot the ball appeared to be lost, no closer to the hole and a 1 shot penalty.
If necessary, a sudden death playoff will ensue on Hole #1 or Hole #18 (depending on timing and availability) and proceed until a winner is determined.
If a sudden death playoff is not possible, a scorecard playoff will be implemented awarding the victory to the team with a lower score on the first hole working in order of hardest to easiest based on hole handicap.
